On the same day that Governor Gavin Newsom ordered further COVID-19-related shutdowns, Suzanne Tracht, owner of the beloved steakhouse Jar, is returning home after 12 days in a local hospital battling double pneumonia.

While it has been touch and go for  one of L.A.’s driving forces on the culinary scene, reps for Suzanne Tracht said she has been tested five times for the coronavirus, all with negative results. Fellow chef and close friend Nancy Silverton recently recovered from the corona virus in April .

According to the chef’s rep, Jannis Swerman, “She’s thankful for her huge support team of family and friends and the doctors at Cedars Sinai.”

Originally opened in 2001 with the help of her longtime chef de cuisine Preech Narkthong, Jar recently added outdoor dining on the Jar Patio in West Hollywood.
