City Councilwoman Janice Hahn this week officially announced her 2010 candidacy for lieutenant governor of California. She also rolled out her campaign staff. Hahn would term out in 2013 if she stayed on the council.

“After receiving enthusiastic response from people up and down the state, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn has decided to make official her run for lieutenant governor of California,” her website states.

Gary South will be Hahn's chief strategist. He worked on Gray Davis' two successful gubernatorial campaigns. He also played a “leading role” in California for Al Gore's presidential run in 2000.

Hahn also announced that Joe Trippi would be her “media/social networking consultant.” He worked with the late Sen. Alan Cranston, Attorney General Jerry Brown and late Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.

Republican State Sen. Abel Maldonado, who has been appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to the vacant lieutenant governor post, but who has yet to be confirmed, says he'll also run.

Hahn is the sister of former Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. Both are the children of late, legendary county Supervisor Kenneth Hahn. Her council district runs from South Los Angeles to San Pedro.
