27-Year-Old Woman Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash near Woodside Avenue

SANTEE, CA (September 26, 2022) – Early Friday morning, Janet Mendoza was arrested following a fatal hit-and-run collision.

The incident happened around 12:23 a.m., just north of Woodside Avenue on September 23rd.

Per reports, police noticed a blue Nissan Altima with significant front end damage traveling on Interstate 5, just west of the I-8 interchange. As a result, officers performed a traffic stop in the area.

Shortly after, authorities located a deceased man with signs of being struck by a vehicle on the southbound lanes of State Route 67, just north of Woodside Avenue. Crews pronounced the male victim dead at 12:44 a.m. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Eventually, police booked 27-year-old Mendoza into the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility with charges of felony hit-and-run.
