Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the gunman who fatally shot a pregnant woman while she was seated in her car May 5.

The shooting of 26-year-old Jana Collins occurred around 9:10 a.m. in the 1900 block of Corning Street in La Cienega Heights.

According to police reports, Collins was sitting with her husband and three other companions in a parked car when the gunman approached and fired numerous shots, striking Collins in the head. She was taken to Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center and shortly after was pronounced dead at the hospital along with her 18-week unborn fetus.

Collins, who was a mother of two, worked at a nearby Starbucks and had recently gotten married.

Detectives said Collins was not the intended target, and the incident appears to be gang related. Collins husband is reportedly a gang member.
