Christian Ruvalcaba Arrested after Pedestrian Crash Near Deep Canyon Drive

PALM DESERT, CA (April 13, 2023) – Monday night, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash claimed the life of Jamie Dodge on Highway 111. The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 111, near Deep Canyon Drive. According to reports, Christian Ruvalcaba, in a Honda CRV, struck Dodge, who was walking in the area. The collision left the pedestrian with serious injuries. Ruvalcaba then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. Emergency crews arrived shortly after and found Dodge suffering from serious injuries. Medics transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. There, officials pronounced 34-year-old Jamie Dodge of Palm Desert dead, due to the extent of his injuries. Following the collision, police arrested 21-year-old Christian Ruvalcaba of Palm Desert in connection with the hit-and-run. They booked him into John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio for multiple charges.
