73-Year-Old Man Killed in Solo-Car Accident near Esperanza Boulevard

GREEN VALLEY, AZ (August 22, 2022) – Friday, James Schmitt was pronounced dead following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 19.

Per reports, Schmitt lost control of the vehicle as he was exiting the freeway for reasons unknown. As a result, the car crashed into a wall near the I-19 and Esperanza Boulevard.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 73-year-old Schmitt dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

Following preliminary investigations, police do not believe that speed or impairment played a factor. However, an active investigation to determine more information is still underway.
