28-Year-Old Driver Arrested after Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 15

FALLBROOK, CA (June 8, 2021) – 46-year-old James McFarland was arrested Friday morning after a wrong-way DUI crash on Interstate 15.

The accident happened just after 4:15 a.m., on June 4. Crews arrived on Interstate 15 near Mission Road.

For reasons still not known, McFarland was driving a 2014 Audi south in the northbound fast lane. There, the Audi collided head-on with a 2013 Toyota.

Due to the impact of the crash, the Toyota caught fire moments later.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered the 46-year-old driver of the burning car in critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, James McFarland, the wrong-way driver, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. Officers later arrested and booked him into jail on DUI charges.

At this time, authorities are still gathering information about the crash. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
