42-Year-Old James Lee Richardson Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Akers Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 23, 2022) – Sunday morning, James Lee Richardson Jr. died after being struck by a vehicle on White Lane.

According to Bakersfield police, the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on February 20th, around the 4300 block of White Lane.

Upon arriving, they found 42-year-old Richardson of Visalia laying in the roadway with major injuries.

Despite efforts to save him, first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Based on their initial investigation, police said Richardson was in the middle of the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Furthermore, both directions of the roadway were shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Investigation is still ongoing, but police were able to rule out speed, alcohol or drug impairment as factors in the crash.
