Here in L.A., we mainly think of the James Beard Foundation as it relates to awards. But in New York, the foundation's home, it's known just as much for the dinners and events it holds at the James Beard House.

This fall, the foundation is taking that aspect of its programming on the road. The “Local Flavor from Coast To Coast” tour is stopping through ten cities, showcasing local chefs as well as other chefs with national acclaim.

This Friday, the tour comes through L.A., with a dinner from our own Nancy Silverton (who this year won the James Beard award for Outstanding Chef, which, if we're doing the obvious Oscars comparison, is like winning Best Director). Silverton will be joined by Aarón Sánchez of Alegre in New York City, as well as Mozza's Matt Molina and Dahlia Narvaez.

The dinner, which will take place at Vibiana downtown, will be preceded by a tasting reception featuring Neal Fraser (who is about to open Red Bird at Vibiana), Alma's Ari Taymor, Animal's Vinny Dotolo, République's Walter Manzke, and Bestia's Ori Menashe.

Tickets ain't cheap: Individual tickets are $275. But if you can get ten of your friends together, you can get a table for $2,500. Bargain!

The reception begins at 6:30 p.m., and cocktail attire is required. Details and tickets can be found here
