24-Year-Old Victim Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 50

DAYTON, NV (May 19, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, 24-year-old Jakob Wingfield was pronounced dead after a head-on crash on Riverboat Road.

Around 2:21 p.m., police responded to the scene near Highway 50 and Riverboat Road.

Troopers said Wingfield was driving a white 2000 Volkswagen Jetta sedan west on the highway. For reasons unknown, he crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a 2017 Ford Explorer.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, authorities pronounced Wingfield, of Dayton dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

At this time, an active investigation is currently underway.
