The museum screens Tadashi Nakamura’s 2012 documentary Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings. The film follows the life and career of the Hawaiian-born ukulele prodigy, who began playing the instrument at age 4. Shimabukuro has released a string of solo records, and after a YouTube video of him playing the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” became a viral hit, the musician began collaborating with the likes of Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmy Buffett, Bela Fleck, Yo-Yo Ma, Ziggy Marley and others. The screening is followed by a performance and discussion with Shimabukuro and the filmmaker.
