Blooming country artist Jade Jackson released her sophomore album, Wilderness, in June on the Epitaph Records imprint Anti-, and the producer is none other than Social Distortion main man Mike Ness. The pair will be hosting a Q&A at the Grammy Museum this week, followed by a performance, so we chatted with Jackson…

L.A. WEEKLY: For a bit of background, when did you start singing, writing and performing, and when did you realize it could be a career?

JADE JACKSON: As soon as I wrote my first song, at 13, I knew that’s all I ever wanted to do.

How did you get hooked up with Anti-/Epitaph?

I was already working with Mike as my producer. He introduced me to the label.

How did you start working with Mike Ness? How was the experience?

I recorded a demo in a friend’s basement that Mike heard. He contacted me and had me come talk with him at his studio. After meeting with him and playing some songs together he told me he wanted to produce me. I love working with him.

What can we expect from the show at the Grammy Museum?

Mike and I are gonna answer some questions about the album and then the boys and I are gonna play a few songs from Wilderness.

What else do you have coming up this year?

Lots of touring in the fall.

Jade Jackson and Mike Ness perform at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 at the Grammy Museum.
