71-Year-Old Cyclist Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run near East End Avenue

POMONA, CA (March 27, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, J Guadalupe Perez-Nunez was killed in a bicycle hit-and-run on Mission Boulevard.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., near East End Avenue on March 22nd. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

Per reports, 71-year-old Perez-Nunez was attempting to cross the intersection on a bicycle when the driver of a passing vehicle struck him.

Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 71-year-old Perez-Nunez, of Pomona dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. Any witnesses are encouraged to call police at 909-622-1241. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
