Tonight, the house band, the L.A. Philharmonic, gives way for a recital by just two musicians: Itzhak Perlman and Rohan De Silva. Perlman is, of course, the celebrated Israeli-American violinist who debuted as a precocious prodigy on The Ed Sullivan Show in the late 1950s. Over an extensive career, Perlman has crafted a famously lyrical tone on violin. He's joined this evening by a longtime accompanist, the Sri Lankan pianist De Silva, for a trio of intimate sonatas by Beethoven, Grieg and Ravel.
