Formerly the Dream Foundation — a name associated with less-than-dreamy ex–team owner Frank McCourt — this year’s ninth annual L.A. Dodgers Foundation Bowling Extravaganza has moved on. The foundation now concentrates on the sunlit promise of the future with a cavalcade of bowling, hosted by Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis and Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett, which topples not only pins but obstacles facing the underserved. Even though “Hey bowler bowler bowler!” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, it’s that rare chance to see various Dodgers past and present bowl. #23 Adrian Gonzalez! The Perfect Storm, #25 Carl Crawford! Outfielder Matt Kemp! Dodgers stalwart and coach Steve Yeager! Dodgers still are being added at press time, but if there’s any justice in the universe you’ll also see Manny Mota … Mota … Mota … This is a serious fundraiser for kids in need, so pony up. The ticket cost includes, for one person, bowling a game with a Dodger player or coach, a bowling team photo with Ellis and Beckett, a bowling jersey and bowling pin, participation in all tourney contests and one Lucky Strike medley dinner.
