You'd think that something as controversial as pit bull ownership would have a long-standing support system behind it, but this year is only the third annual Stand Up for Pits stand-up comedy benefit. Organizer/comedian Rebecca Corry gathers friends both furry (pibbles, as they are colloquially called) and funny (Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings and noted blond nerd-wrangler Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory) for an evening that includes a silent auction, music by the not-so-silent Watkins Family Hour, an opportunity to actually adopt some pit bulls, a kissing booth (agh, dog lips!), and a sustained evening of staunch love for this misunderstood breed of dogs. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., Beverly Grove; Sun., Nov. 3, doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the silent auction and 6 p.m. for the show; $30 (all proceeds from the evening benefit Stand Up for Pits Foundation and Angel City Pit Bulls). (310) 855-0350, largo-la.com.

Sun., Nov. 3, 6 p.m., 2013
