Season five of the  celebrity spotlight series, Postmates: The Receipt, premiers on Sunday, October 24 and will feature New York Times bestselling author, actor, producer and co-owner of Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, Issa Rae. Postmates gave us an exclusive peek at The Awkward Black Girl’s personal order history ahead of the weekend’s show.

“Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day,” the South L.A. native  and star of HBO’s Insecure tells L.A. Weekly. “I could just eat breakfast for the rest of my life, and I’m an early riser so breakfast matters.”

The Stats:

  • 693 orders placed since 2016
  • Favorite cuisine: Caribbean [ordered 48 times]
  • Favorite meal: Breakfast
  • Favorite neighborhood to order from: Inglewood [ordered 53 times]

Issa’s go-to comfort food is easy – vegan ice cream. How do we know? She ordered it on March 15, 2020, the day the world locked down. She says “always checks out the vegan ice cream flavors, but anything cookie dough, peanut butter or birthday cake always has my heart.”

Issa isn’t just a part-owner of Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, she’s also one of their biggest fans. She’s ordered it more than 50 times and almost always gets the Almond Butter Toast, sub bananas for berries.

Issa’s secret to getting so much done? Waking up crazy early and eating a big breakfast, like her favorite Turkey Burger Scramble and Brown Rice Pancakes from Cafe Vida.

On Christmas Eve, your family might be pulling a ham out of the oven, but not Issa. Last December 24, she opted for Thai food from Natalee Thai. The Thai BBQ chicken and a side of broccoli is her standard order.

Issa’s pick for the best chicken + waffles in LA? She didn’t even have to think about it… Rusty Pot Cafe in Inglewood.

What does this actress, writer and producer order after a long night? Pasta. She says, “I order at least four different types of pastas to share… or not.” According to her order history, the pesto pasta from Pasta Sisters in Culver City takes the top spot.

Issa’s crew gets the special treatment too. Like on September 6 when she got eight bottles of prosecco delivered to celebrate a friend’s special day.

Eating like Issa? That’s a piece of cake… specifically Ube Cheesecake from B Sweet Dessert Bar. It’s her favorite dessert and she says she loves “ube anything.”
