20-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near East Via Palos Verdes

TUCSON, AZ (May 22, 2023) – Wednesday, Israel Antonio Martinez was struck and killed in a motorcycle crash on Country Club Road.

The incident occurred at the 300 block of South Country Club Road near East Via Palos Verdes on May 2nd.

According to reports, Martinez was riding a motorcycle above the speed limit in the southbound lanes. There, the driver of a Toyota minivan attempted to make a left turn in front of the rider, where they collided.

Medics later took 20-year-old Martinez to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries about a week later.

Authorities say the 70-year-old unidentified driver of the Toyota remained uninjured and at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that speed and failure to yield were contributing factors. At this time, no arrests or citations have been made.
