22-Year-Old Driver Arrested after Car Accident on Loop 101
TEMPE, AZ (August 24, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, authorities arrested Isaiah Luis Llanos after a wrong-way crash on Loop 101.
The incident happened on August 21st, at around 4:00 a.m., beginning in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10.
According to reports, Llanos was driving a red Cadillac eastbound on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 40th street. He then continued driving the wrong way for almost 10 miles onto the 60, and then onto Loop 101.
Police tried Llanos over but when that failed, the trooper made the split-second decision to hit the Cadillac head-on with the squad car. The impact of the collision brought the Cadillac to a stop between Guadalupe Road and Baseline Road.
When emergency crews arrived, they found that Llanos and the officer both suffered minor injuries. Crews transported them to a local hospital for further treatment.
Afterward, officers booked Llanos into jail with charges of DUI, DUI wrong-way driving, DUI drugs, aggravated assault, and endangerment. At this time, further investigations are currently underway.
