Barbara Ann Brown Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (June 18, 2021) – Sunday morning, June 6, Isaac Najera, was arrested after allegedly driving over Barbara Brown near 20th Street.

The crash took place around 2:41 a.m., near Camelback Road. Najera was driving a northbound white Chevrolet Silverado on 20th Street from Highland Avenue.

There, he crossed over the center line and veered across three southbound lanes of traffic.

He then continued over a curb, and onto the sidewalk, where he eventually ran over Brown. She was reportedly asleep at the time.

Najera continued on, and later collided with a post before fleeing the scene. Shortly after, officers found the Chevrolet parked at a home near 18th Street.

He was laying in the passenger seat with the driver side open, and admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana earlier in the night.

Isaac Najera struggled with the officers but was eventually detained and arrested. He was accused of manslaughter and fleeing the scene of a fatal accident.

Meanwhile, police are awaiting test results before filing accusations of intoxication.
