Is the earth running out of food? You might think so if you've been stuck waiting in line behind your favorite neo-taco truck for hours lately, only to learn that they've run out of kimchi tacos. Okay, no. Time Magazine considers the very real possibility that the earth will actually run out of food in the next 40 years. In their rather histrionic headline — Impending Crisis: Earth to Run Out of Food by 2050?Time considers the possibility that the world may reach food shortages of catastrophic proportions by mid-century. With world leaders meeting now for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancun, Mexico, scientists are predicting even more chaos than usual — ocean dead zones, a hungry population of 9.2 billion by 2050, even possible nuclear war — perhaps in an effort to get politicians to pay attention instead of, say, watching Sarah Palin's Alaska on cable in their hotel rooms.
