Invertigo Dance Theatre has a knack for taking an off-kilter viewpoint, creating insightful, contemporary dance theater tinged with wry humor. In the recent Waiting at Home for the Witches, artistic director/choreographer Laura Karlin took on Macbeth, considering Shakespeare's “Scottish play” from the perspective of the Three Witches' house-husbands. This time, in After It Happened, the L.A.-based company considers a community beset by a natural disaster. Here, however, the curtain rises after the disaster crests and media attention pivots elsewhere. Invertigo's nine dancers are joined by two musicians and a raft of blue trash bags to mourn the trauma and celebrate the resilience of a community grappling with an upended world. Karlin takes a page from Stomp to showcase the theatrical possibilities and humor in commonplace objects — in this case, those blue trash bags. With an early wildfire season and the Napa earthquake, this extended run of After It Happened may be more timely than intended. Odyssey Theatre, 2055 S.
