Los Angeles metal group Intronaut is currently on tour opening for Tool. Last week, guitarist/vocalist Sacha Dunable shared his thoughts on the trip's opening days — which saw them playing arenas for the first time but also sleeping in their stinky show clothes in a parking lot. Below, he tells us what's happened since.

1/16/12 11:30 am – Clearly, the arena rock lifestyle has gone straight to [our guitarist/vocalist Dave Timnick's] head as he shows up to breakfast at Excalibur the morning after our Mandalay Bay show wearing sunglasses and nursing a 24 oz Tecate. While the rest of us presumably spent our first real party night curled up with a cup of hot chamomile and a good book, Dave got all “VEGAS” with a capital “party.” We laughed about it over a greasy buffet feast and hit the road to Arizona.

1/17/12 9:00 pm – Today is Dave's 30th birthday. We are opening up a sold out arena show for Tool in Tucson. What could possibly make your 30th birthday better than that? Oh, playing drums on stage with Tool? Yeah, that would probably be pretty cool. Check out this footage, where not only does Dave kill it, but kills it in the face of being taunted and sung at by Maynard [James Keenan, of Tool]. (Editor's Note: The taunts begin at 4:50 on the above video.)

1/18/12 9:00 pm – By the time we hit Tucson, we were pretty sick of Dave being an attention hog rock star jerk. Tonight in Albuquerque, Tool invited Danny [Walker] up to play drums on “Lateralus.” I got some really good footage, but just as they were almost done with the song, Tool's head of security grabbed me and made me delete the footage per their “no filming” rule. This rule is obviously really effective — check out one of five hundred YouTube clips from that show above.

1/19/12 1:00 pm – We had a day off to drive from Albuquerque to Dallas. After sleeping in, we hit Rudy's BBQ and started on our 12-hour mission. Some of the guys expressed their disappointment in the fact that we had no weed to smoke before leaving so they could pass out for the drive. We stopped for gas in the middle of nowhere, and seemingly on cue we are offered weed by an employee of the little gas station mart. Here is another really effective rule we have encountered — good thing weed is illegal or else you'd be able to find it everywhere!

1/21/12 9:00 pm – This tour is turning into one big jam session every night. Tonight, Justin Chancellor from Tool came out on stage with us as we played our song “Valley Of Smoke,” which he helped write and record on our last record. We had never played this song live before, and might not ever again, so it was special and fun. Later, before our Danny went out to jam with Tool on “Lateralus,” we stole one of Danny Carey's basketball jerseys and put it on him. This is funny because our Danny is about two feet shorter than their Danny.

1/22/12 10:40 am – Waking up with an extreme hangover after two consecutive shows in Dallas. We now have to drive 20 hours to Ohio (over the span of two days) for our Toledo show on Tuesday, which will be the first of our last three shows on this tour. I am sad just thinking about going back to work in L.A. and leaving this all behind, though I am excited for our pals in the band Yob, who are supporting the second half of the tour.
