They are original pieces from the 1920’s made from Philippine mahogany but built locally. The chairs embody the motif of the Hollyhock in their design. The outdoor courtyard looking at the house and stairs leading up to the multi-level rooftop.Griffith Observatory can be seen through smaller upper windows in the dining room. The outdoor courtyard looking at the house and stairs leading up to the multi-level rooftop.A skylight above a carpet with a two dimensional Hollyhock design welcomes you to the music room. The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Art Park in Loz Feliz reopened its doors after completing renovations that have been going on since 2010. Originally built for Aline Barnsdall, who requested her favorite flower, the Hollyhock, be incorporated into its design, the house has been restored to its 1921 grandeur. Here we take you on a tour through the magnificent architecture of this Los Angeles landmark. The house is open for tours Thursday through Sunday. More info at barnsdall.org.
