Indoor mask mandates will be reinstated at Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure park starting Friday, July 30.

The news comes after both the CDC and California Department of Public Health recommended that masks be worn by in public indoor areas, regardless of vaccination status.

“We are adapting our health and safety guidelines based on guidance from health and government officials, and will require Cast Members and Guests ages 2 and up, to wear face coverings in all indoor locations at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort beginning Friday, July 30, regardless of vaccination status,” park officials said in a media statement Wednesday.

Both employees and guests over 2 years old will have to wear face coverings for certain indoor attractions, as well as shuttles and buses.

The face coverings will also be required to fully cover a person’s nose, mouth and chin. Masks also cannot contain mesh, or visible valves.

After June 15, the Disney theme parks had adjusted their previous mask mandates, allowing guests to self-attest to being vaccinated, meaning they would not have to wear masks. The park had also removed its social distancing floor markers and plexiglass dividers placed in lines.

While the state recommended indoor masking, it is not mandated. Orange County does not currently have a mask mandate, although businesses may require guests to wear them.
