In Heroes We Trust is an art gallery in the Skid Row/Historic Core neighborhood of DTLA, with a passion for community and collaboration across street art, design, indie music, activism and sometimes stand-up comedy. When the Safer at Home order came down, like so many they were forced to close their physical space and cancel in-person events. But also like so many, owner Neely Shearer remains committed to supporting its artists — as well as our city’s heroic medical workers and the gallery’s vulnerable neighbors in the Skid Row community.

That’s where the new GoFundMe project comes in, combining the unique resources and skills of the extended In Heroes We Trust family to address this confluence of needs in an art-based fundraiser that pairs artists with fashion designers, a medical-mask task force and a regional food bank. In just a short time, they’ve already sold enough artist-designed masks to provide over 600 meals to Skid Row residents through L.A. Food Bank, and dozens of medical-grade masks to health care workers through Ladysmyth’s Covid Mask Task Force.

Jeremy Novy for In Heroes We Trust

Their initial offering of Artist Print Masks features artists David Puck, ONCH, Jeremy Novy, and Thrash Bespoke — with a stunning Dave Van Patten dropping today, Marisa Avila Sayler and Kristina Drake coming up next, and more artists being added all the time. Proceeds on the flexible tiered donations go in part to the artists themselves, in part to Luxe De Ville — a local vintage shop whose owner, the designer Oskar de la Cruz is hand-cutting and sewing each of our Artist Print Masks — and also to support the delivery of food and medical masks, with a further option to support the gallery itself.

Tip: if the site’s messaging function isn’t working right, just complete your donation then message Neely through the page and tell her which prints(s) you fancy. And when they arrive, please consider amplifying your support by sharing and tagging your new art & safety looks on Instagram (where you can also follow new artists mask releases). gofundme.com/f/support-in-heroes-we-trust-creatives
