Most of the touring figure-skating exhibitions trot out the usual cast of suspects gallivanting around the ice to the usual soundtrack of sappy pop balladry, but All That Skate L.A. is special because it pairs Olympic champion Yuna Kim with the beloved Southland skating legend Michelle Kwan, making her first public performance in four years. Kim is the superior ladies figure skater of our era, combining awesome technique with dazzling artistry and unrivaled fluid grace — in many ways, she's the closest the sport has come to the longtime dominance of Kwan. This weekend's excellent lineup also boasts the dramatic, athletic Chinese pairs skaters Shen Xue & Zhao Hongbo, the stirringly romantic and impressively eloquent 2010 Olympics dance champs Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, the always charismatic dance bronze medalists Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto (let's hope he leaves his guitar at home, however), the cartoonishly flamboyant Johnny Weir, and the powerful German pairs team Aliona Savchenko & Robin Szolkowy.
