Suspected DUI Three-Car Collision near Linnel Lane Left 6-Year-Old Boy Hurt

MURRIETA, CA (May 8, 2023) – Early Monday morning, Ian Sanchez sustained serious injuries after a vehicle collision on Interstate 215. The incident happened on May 1st at around 3:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 215 near Linnel Lane. According to CHP, the crash involved a 2020 Dodge Charger driven by a 26-year-old man, a 2004 Hyundai, and a 2017 Kia Sportage driven by a 27-year-old man with his family. Furthermore, the investigation showed that the vehicle traveled at high speed when he attempted to turn and struck a concrete center divider. As a result, he crashed into the Hyundai upon entering back the highway. He then drove in the opposite lane where he collided with the Kia. Following the crash, the crews have reported five injuries, including Orona. 6-year-old Sanchez sustained severe injuries and received immediate medical treatment at a hospital. Meanwhile, the officers assessed the suspect and later on took him into custody with DUI charges. Alcohol and other altering substances impair mental and physical performance.
