Who doesn't enjoy a little animal sacrifice, maybe a few human bones, as gifts to the gods once in a while?

Cops discovered what appeared to be a Santería altar in Pasadena over the weekend. Strange place for an African religion that came to America by way of the Spanish Caribbean if you ask us

Here's what Pasadena police say:

Cops were called to a residence in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue at 12:50 p.m. Saturday based on a report of trespassing, according to a statement.

When officers arrived this is what the Pasadena Police Department says they found:

… A makeshift altar … adorned with burned artifacts, animal bones, incense and candles. Human bones and a human skull were also found in the remnants.

Sounds like a party.

NBC Los Angeles says a woman who lives at the house practices Santeria. The station notes that it's not always illegal to possess human bones.

But cops say they are going to check it out just in case:

Pasadena Police Investigators, along with the Los Angeles County Coroner Office, responded to the residence and collected these items for further analysis. This incident is being investigated as suspicious circumstances and is on-going.
