25-Year-Old Rider Fatally Struck in Motorcycle Accident near Cherry Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (June 8, 2021) – 25-year-old Hugo Martinez died Friday morning, after a motorcycle accident on 91 Freeway in Long Beach.

The incident happened around 9:10 a.m., on June 4. Dispatchers arrived on eastbound 91 Freeway near the Cherry Avenue off-ramp.

According to CHP, Martinez was riding a 2007 Kawasaki when he was ejected onto the roadway and rolled into the number three lane. Although, the events leading up remain unclear.

There, he was struck by a 2011 Freightliner big-rig. Medics arrived and pronounced the motorcyclist dead on scene. Meanwhile, the big rig driver was unharmed.

Officials ask anyone with additional information contact their offices as soon as possible.

At this time, an investigation is active. However, more information will be released soon.
