25-Year-Old Hugo Martinez Dies in Fatal Crash on 91 Freeway

LONG BEACH, CA (June 11, 2021) – Saturday Morning, Hugo Gonzalez Martinez, 25, was killed in a deadly big-rig collision on 91 Freeway.

The crash took place around 9:10 a.m., on the eastbound lanes. Officers arrived near the Cherry Avenue exit, as stated by the report.

Martinez was riding an eastbound 2007 Kawasaki when suddenly he was flung from the vehicle into the road. He rolled into the third lane of traffic, and was hit by a large rig, a 2011 Freightliner.

Due to the impact of the crash, Hugo Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, the big-rig driver escaped injury.

Moreover, the surrounding area on 91 Freeway was closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.

Meanwhile, the crash is still under active investigation.
