Huan Le Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck near Alexander Avenue East

TACOMA, WA (August 24, 2021) – 78-year-old Huan Le of Tacoma, lost his life Saturday morning after a fatal collision on State Route 509.

The incident happened around 8:10 a.m., on August 14. Dispatchers arrived to the scene on Route 509 near the Pierce County train terminal.

According to preliminary investigations, a commercial 18-wheeler was traveling west on the road when its driver, Edward Scott, turned left onto Alexander Avenue East. Per reports, he did not realize the light was red at the time.

As a result, the semi-truck collided with Huan Le’s northbound Ford pickup-truck at the intersection.

Responding officers pronounced Le dead at the scene. However, there were no other injuries reported.

At this time, officials said speed is not thought to be a factor, but an active investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
