Put on your nose guard, put on the lifeguard, and pass the tanning butter — it's the 2009 Los Angeles Lobster Fest at Ports O' Call. Hot on the heels of the previous week's Long Beach Lobster Festival, it's a paean to the joys of buttery, savory tastes of the lobster in all its special effects. The swooning continues in a different vein to the dulcet stylings of bands like Dios, the Henry Clay People, Los Straitjackets, Love Grenades and the shocking dwarf Kiss tribute, Shorty's Kiss Band. With the additional lobster meal (out-of-season Maine lobsters are flown in just for you) at the same price you paid back in Ought-5 and free rides on the historic Red Car all weekend, who says you need a cold, sharp spike through your superheated skull to get cheap thrills!

Fri., Sept. 18, 5 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 19, 11 a.m.; Sun., Sept. 20, 11 a.m., 2009
