Sierra KnochBachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise star Blake Horstmann had a full-circle moment this year when he returned to Stagecoach country music festival as a DJ. The former reality star made headlines in 2019 when his festival escapades got out but, since then, he has started a career as a DJ and returned to where it all began to put on an exciting show. The music lover spoke to L.A. Weekly about his new career and his latest projects before his Stagecoach performance at the festival. He gave us a look at what led up to this pivotal career moment for the rising star.
“I’ve slowly transitioned into my new career as a DJ and I’m playing here my first time at Stagecoach this weekend at the Honky Tonk tent,” Horstmann said. “It’s going to be a blast. I was in a bit of, I guess you could call it a scandal on Bachelor in Paradise based on Stagecoach so it’s very full circle for me now I’m playing here.”

For Horstmann, music and DJing have always been an interest but he didn’t realize how important it was to him until he actually started doing it. “I’ve been DJing now for about 4 years,” he said. “It’s always been something I’ve been interested in. I’ve always been the aux guy… I took all the fun classes… it’s something I’ve now become very very passionate about. It’s weird because now I feel like I don’t know what I was doing before. It’s always amazing to love your work and enjoy what you do… I never thought I’d say I DJ for a living.”

While he has been working at transitioning his career for some time, things are really starting to pick up now. The DJ shared how it felt to finally make music his full-time career, saying, “That’s what I do. I travel all over the world. I had 8 cities last month alone, so things are really picking up for me and I have a good time. I have a lot of people to thank… I have a lot of friends here this weekend to support me so it’s going to be a really fun night. It’s a really really awesome career that I’ve found myself in.”
Horstmann was so excited to bring good vibes to the crowd at Stagecoach, saying, “I’m looking forward to Stagecoach this weekend. I just enjoy being up there on the stage and I feed off the energy of the crowd and the environment and the vibes. I love seeing people dance to some of the music that I’ve created.”
Although his career has taken off, Horstmann is not done yet and is already hard at work on his next project: making original music. “DJ Silver, my mentor, he’s been great,” Horstmann explains. “I actually have a new DJ duo with DJ Silver called Roadhouse. That’s what I got coming up next. We’re gonna have some original music come out this year, hopefully. We’re looking for probably dropping an EP at the end of the year. So, we’re really really really excited for that I think it’s gonna be able to really propel us to the next level as a DJ duo.”
The artist was full of energy going into his big show. While the Stagecoach festival has always been a place to discover new artists, the DJ definitely left his mark in the Honky Tonk tent and will no doubt be back. Maybe even with some original music of his own!
