It's not exactly milk and cookies, but many doctors do say marijuana has its comforting qualities. Now a group of mothers came out to support Prop. 19, California's pot-legalization initiative.

The Yes on 19 campaign states that “hundreds of … moms” have signed a letter endorsing the measure that would let people 21 and older possess up to an ounce of cannabis.

Hanna Dershowitz, a mother of two, is quoted by the campaign:

“We're tired of a system that makes it easier for our kids to obtain illegal marijuana than legal and age-regulated alcohol, while wasting scarce law enforcement resources. As a mother, I want to see cannabis controlled and regulated so that we have transparency and accountability from anyone who is selling it. Prohibition does not protect our kids.”

Julia Negron, mother of three:

“Marijuana prohibition creates an underground market that only benefits violent gangs and criminals, not families or kids.”

What's next, nuns for legalization?
