A bloody man who might have stabbed himself put on a crazy show for clubgoers along Hollywood Boulevard near Las Palmas Avenue last night, and some of it was captured on video and in photos (more after the jump).

Because he resisted arrest, officers had to subdue the guy using a taser before letting paramedics take him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to be checked out for a possible overdose, LAPD Lt. D. Ferry told the Weekly.

It all happened …

… shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, he said. Hollywood Boulevard was closed at Las Palmas, where several clubs, including Cabo Cantina and Supper Club, often draw crowds.

The closure lasted about 20 to 25 minutes as paramedics checked out the man and scooped him into an ambulance, the lieutenant said. The clubs had nothing to do with the action: The man was on the street, he said.

Cops were originally called to the location based on reports of a suspect causing a disturbance, Ferry said.

The suspect, it appeared, had stabbed or cut himself on the back and was bleeding, but he refused help and wouldn't cooperate, he said.

Blood was photographed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Witnesses didn't see anyone stab him, the lieutenant said, and he did not claim he had been attacked.

The man was not arrested and, because it's likely he was under the influence of drugs, charges might not be sought, Ferry said:

If he's overdosing, is he forming intent for that crime [of resisting arrest]? I don't think so. I don't believe any charges will be levied against him later.
