Three people were shot on Hollywood Boulevard tonight as crowds gathered for Halloween celebrations, bringing the LAPD out en masse.

According to City News Service two of the victims were male teens and one was an adult in his twenties: All three were expected to survive. [Added at 11:25 p.m.]: Actually one teen was in critical condition.

In the meantime …

… cops shut down the boulevard and responded with crowd-control force, including officers on horseback.

The shootings were reported shortly before 10 p.m. at Hollywood Bouelvard and Whitley Avenue, according to CNS.

[Added at 11:10 p.m.]: ABC7 says three people were taken away in handcuffs. News footage depicted lots of people on the street and cops on horseback.

We tried to get through to the LAPD for details but no one was answering.

It appeared that Hollywood Boulevard was shut down around Vine Street.

[Added at 11:20 p.m.]: CNS says the wounded include a 14-year-old, a 17-year-old and a 25-year-old. The youngest was shot int he foot, the 17-year-old was shot in the chest and leg and the 25-year-old was shot in the butt, cops said.

The 17-year-old was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was said to be in critcal condition, according to City News.

[Added at 11:32 p.m.]: The twitter user Hollywood 311 said shortly before 11:30 that police opened the boulevard back up to traffic.
