It's the season of giving.

And cops are all too willing to give you a DUI if you've been naughty. It comes with nearly $16,000 in costs, the Auto Club of Southern California estimates. So you'll be enjoying that gift for months.

Authorities across the state are launching their annual holiday drunk-driving crackdown.

“As we celebrate this holiday season with family and friends, it’s important to remind everyone to drive responsibly and not to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” says state Sen. Tony Mendoza. “I look forward to helping the Highway Patrol and local law enforcement spread this critical message.”

Here are the weekend's festivities:

-Tonight: Extra cops will be on the streets of the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division area from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The LAPD calls this a DUI “saturation patrol.”

-Tonight: A DUI saturation patrol will be happening from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the LAPD's Wilshire Divison area, which includes Arlington Heights, Carthay Circle, Country Club Park, Fairfax District, Hancock Park, Larchmont Village, Mid-City, Miracle Mile, Windsor Square (look out, mayor!), and more.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be a DUI checkpoint waiting for you at Victory Boulevard and Bellaire Avenue in scenic North Hollywood.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., a checkpoint will be running at La Brea Avenue and Rodeo Road near Baldwin Village.
