The historic Tower Theatre in downtown Los Angeles has been restored and converted into an Apple Store, making its grand opening Thursday, June 24.

Renovating the theater’s interior and restoring the landmark clock tower, Apple’s newest L.A. store will offer not only its usual customer care services, but also free daily education sessions where the tech giant says it will “provide inspiration and teach practical skills.”

“At every corner, Los Angeles bursts with creativity across the arts, music, and entertainment, and we are thrilled to build on our relationship with this special city,” Apple senior vice president of Retail and People, Deirdre O’Brien, said. “Apple Tower Theatre honors the rich history and legacy of this entertainment capital.”

Apple also launched “Today at Apple Creative Studios,” an eight to 12 week mentorship program that is debuting in Los Angeles and Beijing before making its way to other landmark cities around the world such as Bangkok, Chicago and London.

The program will hold art-based events, such as art walks, tutorials on photography framing and photographic storytelling.

The Tower Theater first opened its doors in 1927 and had not been used since 1988, outside of serving as a filming location for blockbuster movies such as Fight Club (1999), The Prestige (2006) and Transformers (2007).

The theater seats and balcony were also replaced and modernized with plans to serve as a space for “Genius Bar” appointments.

The new theater will be Apple’s 26th store in the Los Angeles area and will sit at the corner of Eighth Street and Broadway.
