Hit-and-Run Incident near Marina Drive Left One Fatality
LONG BEACH, CA (December 8, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, Hiram Argust Jr. died in a hit-and-run on Second Street, police said.
Officers responded to the collision around 12:57 a.m. in the area of Second Street and Marina Drive, per initial reports.
Unfortunately, the responding fire units declared one victim dead at the scene. The coroner’s office later identified the deceased man as 44-year-old Argust Jr. of Long Beach.
According to the investigators, an unknown vehicle struck Argust Jr. as he crossed the bridge from Appian Way. Police added that Argust Jr. was walking outside of a marked crosswalk.
At this time, the police are working to identify the driver who fled the scene. Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
