Some very enterprising local musicians have been churning out a series of CDs targetting the booming “hipster with babies” market. The series is called Rockabye Baby! and it already includes soothing, instrumental versions of hits and rarities by Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Green Day, Tool (yes, Tool) and (one of our favorites) Kanye West, “Gold Digger” and all.

Today we received at LAWeekly HQ the latest installment in the Rockabye Baby! series: Lullaby Rendions of… THE FLAMING LIPS!

The CD includes not only the inevitable (a bunch of stuff from Yoshimi, which was a weird children's record to begin with), but also a certain track from the Oklahoma psychers' long-lost past as alt-hitmakers, a track that immediately brings memories of 90210's Peach Pit, lube and rumors of controversial subject matter (i.e., buttsecs):

Yeah–you know you wanna see it again. “She Don't Use Jelly,” the 90210 version. All together now: “VAAAAAAASELINE!!!!!”

It's not Michael Bolton–that's for sure.
