Hillary Clinton Visits Leimert Park on the Day She’s Declared the Presumptive Nominee

Hillary Clinton held a rally in Leimert Park on Monday, June 6, to rally support before the June 7 California primary. Multiple speakers made appearances, including actors Jamie Foxx, Jason George and Tatyana Ali, as well as Star Jones, Mayor Eric Garcetti and U.S. Reps. Karen Bass and Maxine Waters. Also present were Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner; the Rev. Wanda Johnson, mother of Oscar Grant; and Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin. Later in the day, multiple news outlets declared Hillary Clinton the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party, given her delegate count.

Multiple people outside the rally expressed their negative feelings about the city’s lack of attention to the condition of the Leimert Park Village Plaza, noting that they had never before seen it so clean and devoid of homeless people.
