The things people do for crack. You know, of course, about the three wise ways: Robbing, stealing and providing various personal services.

But its the creative crimes that too often go without notice. Unfortunately for one Hilda Villarta, stealing money from her daughter has put her name in headlines (see above).

According to the Glendale News-Press …

… the 50-year-old was arrested for theft after her 20-year-old daughter discovered that her account was overdrawn.

The paper says that the woman stole a check in order to withdraw cash ($140 worth) and that had done that at least once before:

Villarta told police she stole her daughter's debit card and also withdrew $140 to buy crack, according to reports.

Villarta's been addicted to crack for 20 years, the News-Press says.

Glendale police records (PDF) show she was arrested at East Garfield Avenue and South Verdugo Road about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of four violations, including forgery, being under the influence of a controlled substance, petty theft and fraudulent use of a bank card.

She was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

People get so low to feel so high.
