Cancer Can Blow Me is the straight-to the-point title of a comedy double-headliner to benefit Livestrong. Quinn Emmett and Sandy Corddry are the producers/cancer haters/NYC Marathon runners behind a lineup that includes Sarah Silverman, Rob Corddry, Ed Helms, Rob Huebel, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Kroll, David Cross, Andy Richter, Diablo Cody, Paul Scheer, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, the Sklar Bros and more, along with hosts Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. Emmett says, “Cancer IS a huge dickhead. I think maybe we use the term 'dickhead' too liberally these days. But when you're killing 7.6 million people a year, I think it's fair to say you've earned the title. If I could meet cancer face-to-face, I'd probably punch it in the orbital. After that, I'd let cancer know that for every 7.6 million people it kills, there's millions more who do everything in their power to dissect it. To destroy it. To learn from it. And to annihilate it. We're coming. And if that means we have to run more goddamn marathons and put on more comedy shows, then, well, so be it. I couldn't find the open end of a test tube with a picture book, so running really far is kind of the default.” The show will be a mix of stand-up, some improv and rehearsed bits on the “cancer can blow me theme” — and, adds Emmett. “With any luck, a few fans will walk away offended.” Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hlywd.; Thurs., Sept. 29, 8 & 9:30 p.m.; $20.
