Arizona Colonel Injured in Two-Car Accident near State Route 143

PHOENIX, AZ (May 10, 2022) – Colonel Heston Silbert was hospitalized Monday night, after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10.

The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the highway near the State Route 143 interchange.

According to reports, the collision involved at least two vehicles and sent a total of two victims to a nearby hospital.

Officers later determined that the crash involved the director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Silbert. Medics transported him with non life-threatening injuries, and the other individual with serious injuries.

Footage from ADOT showed what appeared to be a truck, sedan and SUV pulled over at the scene. However, the events leading up to the collision still remain unclear.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is underway.
