22-Year-Old Herman Martinez Strikes Pedestrian on 19th Street in Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA, CA (February 25, 2021) – Sunday morning, 22-year-old Herman Martinez of Maywood, was arrested after a DUI crash on Newport Boulevard.

CHP says the collision happened around 2:00 a.m. , near 19th Street. Martinez was heading south on Newport Boulevard when he ran a red light, struck a pedestrian and eventually collided with another vehicle.

Due to the impact of the crash, the second vehicle rolled over. As a result, both victims that were struck were injured. Although, their condition has not yet been updated.

Reports also indicate that Martinez was not injured. However, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

At this time, the events leading up to the accident still remain unclear. No further information has been released to the public. However, the police department is still investigating the case.

In addition, authorities have not released the names of those involved. More details will be provided once available.
