On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said it was safe for fully vaccinated people to continue indoor activities without a mask, but multiple nationwide retailers will keep the provisions while they review their mask policies, while others said they may do away with masks for those who are now vaccinated.

“If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said during a White House briefing Thursday. “We have all longed for this moment where we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

Even with the CDC’s recommendations, L.A. County Public Health announced that it will continue to with its current mask mandates, as it cannot be less restrictive than what California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has as recommendations.

All businesses will still have to keep their mask requirements, with the state mask mandates still in place, but major grocery stores and supermarkets have already announced their stances on the CDC’s latest updates.
