The Los Angeles Police Department asked people to stay away from Staples Center during game 5 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Cops didn't want non-ticket-holders hanging around, drinking and brewing victory-inspired unrest, a staple of Staples during other championship match-ups.

So you missed out, then, on the celebration? Not even.

You can line the streets of downtown today for the L.A. Kings' victory parade following the team's 3-2 double-overtime Stanley Cup clincher against New York Friday:
]
The parade starts at noon at Fifth and Figueroa streets downtown. The cup-toting team will make its way south to Staples Center where there will be a 1 p.m. rally for season ticket-holders who have already reserved space. (The team says the event will likely be “sold-out”).

Season ticket-holders can also watch the parade from the comfort of Staples, where the action will be shown on Jumbotron screens.

According to a statement from the Kings, “Please plan on arrival early to secure a spot. Unless you have a ticket, please watch the parade along Figueroa.”

Here's the schedule, according to the team:

11:30pm Doors to STAPLES Center open for ticketed guests for the Rally
12:00pm Parade Starts down Figueroa at 5th st.
12:25pm Parade turns onto 11th street
12:30pm Kings Celebration Moment on 11th street in front of STAPLES Center
1:15pm Estimated Rally Starts
2:30pm Rally ends

Road closures will include Figueroa from Third Street to Pico Boulevard 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 11th Street between Figueroa and Georgia streets from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the team and the city.

The mayor's office says Chick Hearn Court between Figueroa and Georgia streets will be closed 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. too.

Metro suggests using light rail to get close to the action: Nearby stops include “Pershing Square (Red/Purple Line), 7th/Metro Center (Red/Purple Line, Blue Line, Expo Line) and Pico (Blue Line, Expo Line),” the agency says.

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti plans to be there. He'll also tape tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live (air time: 11:30 p.m.), where New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to deliver for his losing bet on a New York Rangers' victory: He's supposed to sing Randy Newman's “I Love L.A.”
