Helloworld Offers an Afterthought: Rising dance music artist helloworld started producing when he was just 14 years old and has never looked back.

“I have been playing piano my whole life and music has always been a big part of me,” he says. “I started really diving into it DJing in high school right when the dubstep wave was getting huge, though. I heard Skrillex for the first time and some of the UKF stuff and immediately I was like ‘I NEED TO MAKE THAT’.  It started getting serious on my last year of college – I had been in between on what I wanted to do for so long, but that was the year I decided I was going to do it for real.”

Today, he says that his sound is hard to nail down.

“I don’t even know what it is I make,” he says. “I am super inspired and influenced by a lot of the half-time/downtempo bass and trap stuff. I also love pop music. I love taking inspiration from things that I grew up with though. I was an avid video-gamer for most of my life and grew up on Nintendo. I also studied computer science in college so I love the tech and video game inspired sounds and designs.”

The artist says that electronic music is on the upswing in 2022.

“I’ve been absolutely craving shows and being able to perform live and the pandemic put a lot of my plans and other peoples’ plans on hold,” he says. “I think all of this time off has been inspiring and made us not take any of this for granted so it will be the kick in the butt that a lot of people needed to put music out (if you’re an artist), to go to shows (if you are a huge fan of electronic music).”

helloworld’s latest single is “afterthought” (like his name, the lower case is deliberate).

‘afterthought’ is actually one of the first songs I wrote for the ‘helloworld’ project – I wrote the original instrumental a few years ago before the project was even conceived,” he says. “I was looking for vocalists for the idea and reached out to Luma (who I never met before). We eventually got the chance to work on the track together and got to write/record it together in L.A. and through the process we became such good friends. She also introduced me to my manager Shemar (who is also her manager). Lots of amazing things came from this song and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. The song is about not wanting to be a second choice to someone. It’s about standing up for yourself and realizing your worth; not being an afterthought.”

Looking ahead, he says that he has a lot planned for 2022.

“I am working on so much new music that takes a whole new direction from the stuff I’ve put out so far and I’m super excited about it,” he says. “I also have some official remixes coming out for some of my favorite artists ever and I’m still in disbelief about them! I can’t wait to show you all what is planned.”
