65-Year-Old Dies in Hit-and-Run Incident near Old Spanish Trail
TUCSON, AZ (October 31, 2022) – Thursday night, police responded to a hit-and-run along Broadway Boulevard that killed Helen Mugford.
The incident took place at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and East Old Spanish Trail around 9:30 p.m., October 27th.
Officers arrived at the scene and found 65-year-old Mugford on the highway. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police that Mugford used a HAWK crossing beacon when the driver of an eastbound vehicle struck her.
Upon impact, the driver fled the scene and did not stop to call for emergency services. Police are asking for the public to contact them at at 88-CRIME if they have any information regarding the fatal incident on Broadway Boulevard.
Additionally, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
